Greeting’s members, your committee met for the 1st time in 2021 on Wednesday night. Here are some important updates for you.

ECC AGM – Wednesday 10th March 7pm

Please be advised the we have our AGM coming up on Wednesday 10th March, 7pm. It will be held as a video call. All members are invited. If you want to attend, please email Club Secretary, Susan Williams by 10/3/21; secretary@easterncycling.com

Committee nominations are now open & all positions are up for renewal except the Secretary who is mid-way through a 2-year term. Please consider nomination for a position, the current status is as follows;

• President – Open (Adam Dymond is standing down, Dean Niclasen has nominated already)
• Vice President – Open (Please seriously consider)
• Treasurer – Open (Juanita Stumbles has stood down, Dean Tune will be nominating)
• Assistant Treasurer – Open (Juanita is likely to nominate)
• Captain – Open (Captain Maxi most likely to stand again)
• Vice-Captain – Open (Please seriously consider, Maxi needs some support)
• Handicapper – Open (PAM likely to stand for the 743rd year in a row)
• Assistant Handicapper’s (multiple is OK) – Open (we really need a few people to put their hand up & help Pete out, please consider, he can’t keep doing this for ever)

Other positions;
• Director of Racing – Open (if Dean N becomes President, we need to fill this important role)
• Race day co-ordinator’s (multiple is OK) – Open (Maxi does this most Saturdays but we need more help in this regard, the more the merrier)
• Saturday Race day duty co-ordinator – Open (Andrew Buchanan needs a rest)
• Facebook Race Report Saturday – Open (Adam will no longer be doing this)
• Facebook Race Report Tuesday – Open (Adam will no longer be doing this)

We have a great committee currently, but need new blood coming in. Many hands make light work so please consider coming on board to help your club grow & thrive. Please speak to any committee member on race day for more information.

All nominations must be lodged with Club Secretary, Susan Williams by midnight Wednesday 3rd March. Nomination forms are available to be downloaded via the documents page on the club website. There will also be hard copies available on race days. Otherwise email Susan at secretary@easterncycling.com & she can send you a nomination form.

Prize Money

The committee discussed at length the prize money status & decided to leave it as is. Some of the rational is as follows. This will be reviewed in due course;
• We will be offering prize money at signature events, Handicaps, Toughen Up Series etc
• Now that we are cashless, the logistics of giving out prize money every race is problematic for the Treasurer
• The committee wants to keep the race entry fee at an affordable $10
• Race entry numbers have grown, regardless of no prize money
• The vast majority of members the committee have spoken to don’t race for prize money, they race for the competition & like some recognition afterwards at presentations, podium pics, newsletter recognition etc….
CCW Twilight Crit Series

David Richards has come on board again & will be giving out prizes for the top 6 in the series, prizes have been advertised previously. The committee has elected to top this up to give 4 x $50 CCW vouchers for the 7th-10th place getters.

Snooze Nunawading Handicap – Saturday 20th March @ Seymour

This was previously our VCV Open Handicap, which obviously won’t be the case moving forward. It will be run as a normal club handicap. Ron Gillies from Snooze Nunawading has been kind enough to sponsor the race. This will enable us to give out more prize money. Details of the race entry fee & prize money will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. Please pencil this in your diary, it will be as great day.
