Cash less Payments

If you answered YES to Q3 - how do you suggest we recognise the podium in races?

Financial gain through credits towards race fees. 1st gets 3 tokens, 2 gets 2 tokens, 3rd gets one token. 3 tokens to race. Value of tokens can be adjusted to suit and you make a rule that you cannot pay in part tokens. This assumes that walk up is made available otherwise it would be difficult to manage. If cashless payments is due to contactless transactions then tokens could be problematic. The giving out of anything material (as some suggested) is counter to the contactless principle.

Same as present except no payment. If sponsors sponsor an individual race, present vouchers, trophies, prize money etc as part of podium.
8:28 AM, 25 May 2020
Just announce the winners and don't give prize money. No doubt there will be initial complaints from some, but if it means we can keep racing, we'll will have to get used to it. Low prize money Wednesday Loop racing doesn't make it any less competitive

Just have a presentation on the podium to acknowledge place getters. We should then aim to recognise the first second and third places in the club aggregate at the end of the year.
2:45 PM, 31 May 2020
Same as currently for races like club championship where there sis no prize money
2:02 PM, 30 May 2020

12:52 PM, 25 May 2020
Recommend you don’t reduce the race fees but instead of giving out prize money recommend you select a good charity and donate the prize money. You could keep tally of how much each member wins in terms of donated money and use it as an end of season goal

As for entry fees you could pre purchase a certain number of race entry fees and they are used up for each race you race in & prize money is added back as credit towards next race.

As I see it the current system is open to ”sandbagging ” where the object of racing is to win a couple of dollars... Not in the pure spirit of healthy competition . It is completely unfair!!!! Also there's also another issue at our club..Its gauling when we hold road races that entrants move themselves to lower grades from the higher grades because it's hilly or conditions don't suit them! ... So as to win the cash / they are not good enough to compete in their alotted grades. This seems a particular glitch of the handicapping at Eastern vets cycling club from the other clubs I've been a member at . Do we need a cash as a prize? What about movie tickets? What about a good veg hamper ? Hope you are able to bring the changes through . The lowering of racing entrance will make the racing more appealing cost wise and most members will race more! In conclusion racing at eastern has problem of ” sandbagging ” to win a couple of dollars , a total cyclical exercise to come out on a Saturday Wednesday Tuesday night . Lowering fees will attract more racers and make racing at the club much more attractive . Do we as master racers need a cash payment to make us competitive and enjoy the the thrill and the experience of winning , my feeling is probably NO we don't .

a small (A6 or A7) certificate with grade date and race

I have never supported cash prize money in an amateur club. The podium would still be awarded regardless. Perhaps small vouchers for tubes or chain lube or similar would suffice. Cash prizes has led to problems such as sandbagging, payment for lead-outs etc.

Voucher to sponsor, or sponsor product.
